DATAWEDGE MARKETING-

If you have been in the industry for any length of time and managed to survive, you have already learned the importance of marketing.

If you have honed your skills to a fine edge, you probably already learned about the differences between MARKETING and RE-MARKETING.

What you might NOT be aware of, however, is that if you are a current user of our on-line ordering engine, DataWedge has programs that help you in both of these areas at no additional cost to you.

On the MARKETING front, Meal Monger's job is to attract NEW CUSTOMERS to your service, paying for the advertising and costs associated with customer acquisition over the internet.

On the re-marketing front, DataWedge has the ability to create, send and TRACK email campaigns sent out to email address contained in your database.

The person in charge of both of these projects is the newest member of the DataWedge team, Liz Sniegocki.  Her job is to assemble and manage internet marketing campaigns as a value-add service back to our web customers.  In short:  her job is to help you get orders over the internet.

Some examples of previous campaigns sent out of the past few months can see seen below:

Our protocol for initiating a campaign is fairly loosely defined.  Simply email Liz by our email form, CLICK HERE.  Send along any logos you wish to use, and the "rough idea" of the contents of the campaign subject material.  She will then respond with the next window of time that is available for a campaign to be sent out, and will begin the process of drafting up the graphics involved in the campaign.  (Note: normally, we like to see about 4 weeks of lead time for this process).

Once a proof is agreed upon, the date for the campaign is hard set, and the mailers are sent out.  After the campaign starts, you will be issued a link that you can use to TRACK and see the success of the campaign, including how many times the advertisement was OPENED, how many times it was actually CLICKED THROUGH, and how many orders were generated as the result of the campaign).

Over time, we have gained a small amount of wisdom in our marketing efforts.  One of the biggest items noted is that customers simply do not like to be barraged with mindless, useless email.  The worst thing that could happen is to have a customer simply "opt-out" of future notifications, effectively closing the door on such an inexpensive method of marketing.

For this reason, we enforce the notion of the campaigns have something USEFUL to say, and are SPARING in their frequency.  You don't want to annoy the very customers you are trying to market to.

Again, this marketing comes as a value-add service back to our customers; it carries no additional cost to you.  I invite you to drop an email to Liz and start the process of igniting a marketing campaign for your service!

FAQ OF THE MONTH--

This month, several customers seem to be intent on scrubbing their workstations free of their entire operating system and re-installing their software from scratch.  (Mental note:  Have you updated your virus scanners and spy-ware programs recently?)

The most frequent calls have been instructions on how to download and install the DMS software from scratch.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR DMS Workstation Installation:

  • 1) Download the full installation of DMS from download/dms.exe.
  • Save this (large) file to your local hard drive.
  • Double-Click on this file to RUN it.
  • Select a WORKSTATION type of installation
  • Allow the computer to re-boot itself (if asked)
  • Go to a CURRENTLY INSTALLED copy of DMS, and select WORKSTATION SETUP.  Copy down the settings contained on this screen.
  • Go into Workstation Setup on the NEWLY INSTALLED COPY of DMS, and enter in the same data as above.
  • Close DMS.
  • Go to:  Start --> Run --> (Browse) --> My Computer --> C Drive --> DMS2000 --> DLMANAGER.EXE
  • Use the Download Manager to PATCH your copy of DMS to the current version you are running.
  • Restart your copy of DMS.

If you need assistance in re-installing your copy of DMS, please contact us!

DID YOU KNOW--

DMS Build 660 and above now contains a full ORDER JOURNAL for every order placed in the system?  This journal contains a log of every action taken on the order, including the time it was started, the items that were added to/deleted from it, and any custom notes you have along the way.

In order to view the order journal, simply RIGHT-CLICK on any order in the dispatch screen, and select "VIEW ORDER JOURNAL".

DataWedge Services

Web Services

The process of caring and feeding your own web server on your local network can be an expensive and daunting task.  Not many companies have the financial resources to purchase and maintain the hardware necessary to run a web server our of their office, in addition to the technical savvy necessary to keep it secure from hackers on the internet.

DataWedge has created our On-Line Ordering engine to solve all of these problems.  Your restaurant and menu data is uploaded and hosted securely on our professionally hosted internet server, away from your office internet connection--giving hackers no place to scratch away at your network.

Our system is billed on a "pay-for-what-you-use" system.  This means for as little as $50 a month, you can have a professional web presence available on the internet including restaurant information, menus, and on-line ordering.  Use of our templates and get on the internet in a matter of days!  For an example of a template site, you can click here, or click here.

Do you have an existing web site, but just want to include on-line ordering functionality?  No problem... our On-Line Web engine has the ability to be wrapped inside a frame.  Measuring only 720 pixels wide, you can easily integrate your own web site around an instance of an ordering engine, and have the ability to push DMS data out to the internet, and have orders push directly into your system.  To see examples of companies that have integrated their own web sites with our ordering engines, you can click here, or you can click here.

If you would like more information on our on-line ordering engine, please don't hesitate to contact us at (208) 874-4185.

Meal Monger

Meal Monger represents our aggregated web site, aimed at being the target of national marketing campaigns.  Because DataWedge utilizes a "pay-for-what-you-use" billing system, it's in our best interest to drive as many transactions as we can towards your service.

We currently employ an aggressive marketing campaign utilizing a "keyword match and click-through" model on Google.  We also have "re-marketing" campaigns designed for customer retention.  These marketing efforts are designed to bring existing customers back to your delivery service, and are typically sent out prior to holidays or major events.  Example mailers can be seen by clicking here, or clicking here.

If you would like more information on being a part of Meal Monger, please contact us at (208) 874-4185.

Credit Card Processing

DataWedge has teamed with Nova - the nation's second-largest credit card processing system - to provide a seamless charge authorization system that accepts a full range of bank and T&E cards.  The DataWedge/Nova partnership offers a number of advantages over other card processing alternatives:

  • Low transaction/discount charges resulting from the purchasing power of one master contract for DMS clients
  • Elimination of  ICVerify as a card processing gateway.  DMS is certified with the NOVA system for direct data transmission to their system.
  • The ease and efficiency of a "seamless" process from order entry to authorization to funds transfer into your account

If you would like to know how much you can save over your existing credit card services, please click here and fill out our request form.

Off-Site Backup

Too many times we have seen a client simply ignore the duties of backing up their system.  Make no mistake:  every single hard drive on the planet will eventually fail... it's only a matter of time.

DataWedge has pre-purchased the internet bandwidth and server capacity on the internet to offer off-site backup services to our clients.  For a small service fee of $35 a month, DMS can now upload an encrypted copy of your DMS Database to our internet server each night during the nightly maintenance routine.

Each morning, our internet server then scans each upload and generates an e-mail notification that is sent back to each customer.  That means for roughly $1 a day, you can arrive at your office each morning and be notified that your data is safe and secure at an outside facility.

If you would like more information on this service, please contact us (208) 874-4185.
