Newsletter Marketing

DataWedge Offers Customers' "Value Add" Service

Never Underestimate The Power Of Words

In a traditional company, a good company newsletter can be a very useful marketing vehicle. Newsletters are a great way to keep in touch with customers and to keep your name fresh in their minds.  It can build credibility, image, relationships and allow you to become the expert in your area. They give you a measurable and definitive way to target your market and position your business.

A newsletter design generally should be a fast read, packed full of valuable information. Articles should focus on techniques for increasing profitability. It should not be an overconfident piece of fluff full of promotional information about your products and services.

Newsletters can be as simple or as elaborate as you want them to be, but having good content is crucial, and so is the look. Layout, design, graphics and distribution are the most time-consuming and energy draining (but necessary) tasks for having a successful newsletter.

Keep in mind that a successful newsletter doesn't guaranty sales, it's only the first level of the sales process, but it is vital to the success of your business. Once your newsletter is established as valuable and consistent, you are creating trust and this opens the door to asking your readers to buy something from you, or to hire you for services.

DataWedge Marketing Programs

If you have been in the industry for any length of time and managed to survive, you have already learned the importance of marketing, and learned the differences between MARKETING and RE-MARKETING.

What you may not be aware of is DataWedge has programs that help you in the area of RE-MARKETING. If you are a current user of our on-line ordering engine, this assistance comes at no additional cost.

DataWedge has the ability to CREATE, SEND and TRACK email campaigns sent out to email addresses collected as a result of using the on-line ordering engine.  (The engine contains the specific "OPT-IN" process necessary to maintain compliance with ICANN addresses collection and usage guidelines)

The person in charge of the DataWedge marketing process is Liz Sniegocki.  Liz’s job is to create email marketing campaigns and send them out to registered customers from our web engine in an effort to drive more business to the internet.   In short: Liz’s job is to help you remind your customers that you still exist.

DataWedge And Your Marketing Efforts

As a busy professional, you need to spend your mental and emotional energies doing what you do best: serving your clients.  DataWedge and Liz can do all of your campaign work and save you the hassle and time it takes to write and publish your own emailing campaign.

The protocol for initiating a campaign is a fairly loosely defined process. The best place to begin is by thinking of a "target concept" (such as Boss's day, St. Patrick's Day, the announcement of a new Restaurant, etc).  Once you have your idea in mind, simply notify Liz by our email form, CLICK HERE. Send along any logos, images, slogans or tag lines you wish to use, and a "rough idea" of the contents for the campaign subject material. Liz will then respond with the next available window of time for a campaign to be sent out, and will begin the process of drafting the campaign including graphics and text. (Note: normally, we like to see about 2-3 weeks of lead time for this process).

Once a proof is agreed upon, "the campaign date is hard-set" and mailed. After the campaign is sent out, a link will be automatically generated in your DataWedge Admin Pages (http://admin.dtsc.net) that you can use to TRACK and see the success of the campaign.  This tracking includes how many times the advertisement was OPENED, how many times the campaign was actually CLICKED THROUGH, and how many orders were generated as the result of the campaign.

Over time, we have gained a small amount of wisdom in our marketing efforts. One of the biggest issues noted is that customers simply do not like to be barraged with mindless, useless emails. The worst thing that could happen is to have a customer simply "opt-out" of future notifications, essentially closing the door on such an inexpensive method of marketing.

For this reason, we insist that all campaigns have something USEFUL to say, and are SPARING in their frequency. You don't want to annoy the very customers you are trying to market to.

Again, this marketing program comes as a value-add service that we give-back to our customers; it carries no additional cost to you.  We invite you to drop Liz an email and start the process of igniting a marketing campaign for your delivery service!

Did You Know

In DMS, you can assign a driver to a future order (as long as the driver is scheduled to work that day)?  Simply use the Management --> Time Slips feature to schedule the driver's work schedule.  Then, when you change the date on the Dispatch Screen to the future date, the list of drivers presented becomes the list of drivers SCHEDULED to work on that day, as opposed to the drivers that are currently clocked in.

In DMS 700 build 7.0.2.12 and above there are 2 more keyboard shortcuts and they are 1. Hitting 'enter' closes item edit windows when entering comments on an item. 2. Hitting 'enter' causes address search when searching an address.

To comply with Fair Credit Reporting Act ruling, the Expiration Date is no longer shown on the View/Print/Fax orders, or on the customer CC receipt generated from the NovaLink batch screen in DMS 700 build 7.0.3.0 and above. In DMS 2000 build 680.4 and above, an option was added to the Order Print Format Setup that allows the RDS to suppress the Expiration Date. See image below.

Web Services...

The process of caring and feeding your own web server on your local network can be an expensive and daunting task. Not many companies have the financial resources to purchase and maintain the hardware necessary to run a web server out of their office, in addition to the technical savvy necessary to keep it secure from hackers on the internet.

DataWedge created an On-Line Ordering engine to help solve some of these problems. Your restaurant and menu data is uploaded and hosted securely on a DataWedge professionally hosted internet server, away from your office internet connection - giving hackers no place to scratch away at your network.

The DataWedge system is a "pay-for-what-you-use" system.  This means for as little as $30 per month, you can have a professional web presence available on the internet including restaurant information, menus, and on-line ordering. Use of our templates and get on the internet in a matter of days! For an example of a template site, you can click here, or click here.

Do you have an existing web site, but just want to include on-line ordering functionality? No problem... our On-Line Web engine has the ability to be wrapped inside a frame. Measuring only 720 pixels wide, you can easily integrate your own web site around an instance of an ordering engine, and have the ability to push DMS data out to the internet, and have orders push directly into your system. To see examples of companies that have integrated their own web sites with our ordering engines, you can click here, or you can click here.

If you would like more information on our on-line ordering engine, please don't hesitate to contact us (208) 874-4185.

Meal Monger...

meal monger logoMeal Monger represents our aggregated web site, aimed at being the target of national marketing campaigns. Because DataWedge utilizes a "pay-for-what-you-use" billing system, it's in our best interest to drive as many transactions as we can towards your service.

We currently employ an aggressive marketing campaign utilizing a "keyword match and click-through" model on Google. We also have "re-marketing" campaigns designed for customer retention. These marketing efforts are designed to bring existing customers back to your delivery service, and are typically sent out prior to holidays or major events. Example mailers can be see by clicking here, or clicking here.

Credit Card Processing...

DataWedge has teamed with Elavon - the nation's second-largest credit card processing system - to provide a seamless charge authorization system that accepts a full range of bank and T&E cards. The DataWedge/Elavon partnership offers a number of advantages over other card processing alternatives:

  • Elimination of ICVerify as a card processing gateway. DMS is certified with the Elavon system for direct data transmission to their system.
  • The ease and efficiency of a "seamless" process from order entry to authorization to funds transfer into your account
